What is root barrier for trees?

Tree root barriers are made from durable materials such as HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) and geotextile fabric, and used to protect landscape and hardscape from invasive tree roots. These barriers can prevent tree roots from encroaching on properties and causing damage to pavements, foundations, and other structures. Installing a tree root barrier can prevent tree root damage and save the need for repairs.

A Tree Root Director will steer roots downward and away from structures and utilities.

Large Format Tree Root Barrier Membrane

There are often situations where a ‘large format barrier’ is needed to block tree roots. Our CuTex barrier provides a specialist solution – a permeable tree root barrier membrane. Below , some of the popular applications for large format tree root barrier.

Vertical barrier

Typically specified to a depth greater than two metres when required to block tree roots completely.

For subsidence

The size of the tree root barrier is often determined by the depth of the trees fibrous roots. These can be routinely found 3-4 metres below ground.

A substrate in construction

Using CuTex root barrier membrane within drainage systems - where water movement is required - to block tree roots from interfering with permeable driveway sub-bases
