FlexiRoot is RBS’ highly versatile and durable bamboo root barrier that’s not only economical, but highly flexible and easy to use. With a CBR puncture resistance of 6,918 N, FlexiRoot provides a tough, non-permeable solution for bamboo containment and is also suitable for tree root deflection and Japanese knotweed encapsulation.

Materials and Structure

Our FlexiRoot root barrier is formed from a woven HDPE base material, coated on both sides with LDPE film. With a weight of 481 g/m², it provides a tough yet highly flexible, non-permeable root barrier that is easy to handle and install.

Like any highly flexible, non-permeable root barrier, we recommend using FlexiRoot with a protective sand layer or protective geotextile in most situations.

Further Guidance and Support

When using FlexiRoot as a bamboo barrier, ensure the barrier protrudes more than 100mm above ground level. Allow sufficient space for future root and rhizome growth within the contained area, and periodically inspect the barrier and surrounding bamboo growth.

This versatile membrane is suitable a range of applications, including those that involve installation into confined and/or complex spaces. Seams can be created by welding or taping.

Root barriers will only block roots at the face of the barrier. Correct design and installation are therefore critical.
